Photograph titled “Pastoral Idyll,” depicting two young boys, one nude and the other dressed in classical white drapery, posed on a vineyard garden terrace with a bowl of fruit between them. The photo was taken at the “White House” on the Mount Ziretto vineyard in Taormina, Sicily, Italy. Albumen print. Signed “W von Gloeden Taormina 1913 26/11” in plate along the lower right. Inscribed “EGW 2753 / 10-7-13 Compliments” in pencil along the verso. Von Gloeden is best known for his photographic works portraying young men in classical poses and settings reminiscent of Greek or Italian antiquity.
