Wang Jiyuan Chinese Ink Painting

Wang Jiyuan (Chinese, 1893-1975). Ink on paper painting depicting a blossoming flower. Inscribed with characters and the artist’s seal in red along the left margin. Jiyuan co-founded the Tian-Ma Society in 1918 along with Liu Haisu and Wang Yachen. He also cofounded the Juelan Society along with Ni Yide, Pang Xunqin, Chen Cheng-po, and several others. He spent much of his time in New York and Taiwan and donated many of his works to Taiwanese collections such as the National Palace Museum and the National Museum of History.
