A second generation Abstract Expressionist, Lawrence Calcagno painted “Sun Painting” in saturated hues or yellow and orange that echo with colors in California skies. He studied art in San Francisco under Clyfford Still, Mark Rothko, and Richard Diebenkorn. He exhibited at Martha Jackson Gallery in New York and is included in the collections of several museums and important private collectors.
