David Rathman (American, b. 1958). Ink and watercolor on canvas painting depicting a red and blue car energetically crashing into an unknown object. Grey dust surrounding the car adds an energetic aura to the scene. The phrase “You were always on my mind” is painted along the upper center. David Rathman earned his BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 1982. Rathman currently lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Not limiting himself to a painter, he expands his medium to limited edition books, prints, and films. His work has been housed in numerous outstanding national art institutions including the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Walker Art Center.
