David Rathman (American, b. 1958). Oil on canvas painting titled “Myst” depicting a scattered group of words, phrases, and symbols over a blue ground, 1997. The painting is signed and dated along the verso. David Rathman earned his BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 1982. Rathman currently lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Not limiting himself to a painter, he expands his medium to limited edition books, prints, and films. His work has been housed in numerous outstanding national art institutions including the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Walker Art Center.
