Bennett Bean Triple Ceramic Sculpture
Bennett Bean (American, b. 1941). Three-part gilt earthenware ceramic sculpture in abstract forms. Each piece is marked “V. 1025” along the underside. This work epitomizes what the artist, Bennett Bean, is known for – pit fired earthenware vessels, often asymmetrical, non-functional, and fluid sculptural works. He developed a Japanese-influenced style for throwing these bowls, and, since 1983, has applied 24 carat gold leaf to these vessels’ interiors.
