Noel Montgomery Rockmore (Davis) (American, 1928-1995). Ink and watercolor mixed media on paper painting titled “Coney Island,” depicting children playing underneath the docks on the island, 1961. Signed, titled, and dated along the lower left. Noel Rockmore, born Noel Montgomery Davis, was a prolific artist, draughtsman, and sculptor. Changing his name in the middle of his career, he commuted between New York and New Orleans as the abstract expressionist movement gained momentum. Though he lived an often volatile lifestyle, he never stopped creating art, and is said to have created over 15,000 artworks in his lifetime. Sigh; height: 12 1/2 in x width: 17 1/2 in.
