Maria Flavia (Portuguese, b. 1935). Large scale tapestry titled “Menina Com Girassol (Girl with Sunflower).” Hand-woven wool tapestry spun from vivid orange, green, black, brown and purple wools showing abstracted shapes and a figure, along with an artist’s signature and initials “TMP” at the bottom right corner of the piece. Metal hanging eyelets are woven to the reverse side of the tapestry. With original 1966 purchase receipt, along with a 1980 letter from J.L. Hurschler of the Hurschler Collection of Modern Tapestries providing an opinion of value for the work.
