International Bidders Dominate Record Breaking Minneapolis Art Auction
Revere Auctions had its inaugural auction on Saturday March 24th in Minneapolis’ International Market Square. The sale featured works spanning the 15th through the 21st centuries. The auction drew international phone and internet bidders from Belgium, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Malta, Myanmar, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden and the United Kingdom, drove prices for several works to new heights.
Noteable sales included:
Jasper Johns’ ‘Figure Seven’ sold for $28,160
same print sold by Christie’s in October 2017 brought less.
Frank Stella ‘Moby Dick Series’ sold for $17,500,
a world record price for this print.
Robert Courtright’s ‘Untitled’ (Triptych) sold for $23,750,
a record for the artist in the USA.
Margaretha Roosenboom’s (Rose Still Life) sold for $20,480,
the highest price achieved for work on paper in US in the last decade.
John Gibson’s “Union Square” sold for $15,000
a world record price for the artist.
